Solo or with friends?

What changes in co-op, which progress belongs to you, and how to prepare when driving alone.

Can I play on my own?

Yes. The official FAQ supports single player and multiplayer in each area. Player reports describe exploring, photographing wildlife, completing trails and unlocking vehicles alone. Co-op adds help with towing, recovery and difficult approaches.

There is a practical exception to “everything is the same”: larger meteorites have configured requirements of two to four players. Choose a one-player rock when alone; you do not need to collect every rock to continue exploring. Do not assume every achievement is solo-safe simply because the main exploration is.

Does only the host keep progress?

No. The official FAQ says progress belongs to each player and carries between solo and multiplayer. Each player must reach a checkpoint themselves for completion credit; being in the host’s session is not enough.

For recovery jobs, players report receiving rewards when both are attached to the rescued vehicle. That is a player-reported method, not a guarantee that every nearby player shares every reward. Check your own completion and unlock notification before leaving.

Can we stop and continue later?

The FAQ confirms that completed objectives carry across modes. Players also report continuing from cabins they have already discovered. Discover a cabin and check your own progress before ending a session; do not assume your precise vehicle position or an unfinished job will resume unchanged.

How many players? Is there split screen?

The official limit is four players total. Local co-op is not currently supported. The FAQ mentions cross-play plans, but that is not evidence that unreleased console versions or cross-platform save transfer work today.

Pack for a solo recovery

Take repair supplies and recovery tools, and discover cabins as fallback points. A portable anchor helps when there is no suitable tree nearby. Check recovery by situation and use the expedition planner before a long outing.

“Session not found” or an endless load?

These are reported problems, not proof that multiplayer is unavailable to everyone. Update all players’ games, try a fresh session and another host, and record whether solo still works. The troubleshooting helper separates the patched portal-loading issue from unresolved connection reports.
